DJ Muggs Presents
“Mash Up Radio”

Mash*up 1.adj - to involve blending songs from two different music genres together.

With the “MASH UP” sound, the sum of its’ parts often exceeds the originals’ totals! Some of the best mash-ups blend Hip-Hop with Rock, boosting the tension between slick and raw. To identify the source of two familiar sounds now melded as one, such as Snoop Dogg rockin’ with Guns’n Roses, or Eminem droppin’ 16 bars with Nirvana.

Mash-ups are related to the spirit that moved Run DMC to break down the social barriers of Rap Music with Aerosmith by releasing the classic “Walk this Way,” or Cypress Hill dropping their genre-bending “Rock Star” or Puff Daddy letting Dave Grohl, Rob Zombie
and others loose on the rock remix of "It's All About the Benjamin’s.”

Muggs (Mega Producer/DJ) from world-renowned Cypress Hill is bringing you “Mugg’s Mash-Up Radio”.

When asked what motivated him to do this radio show, Muggs said, “I have been doing Rock and Hip-Hop for a while now…. and I see the problem of trying to bridge the gap of Rock fans listening to Hip-Hop and vice versa. Doing remixes is a good way to reach the kids that would not normally listen to that kind of music.”

“I try to explain the idea to people and they don’t get it, so I just try to give them a demonstration via the “ROCK SUPERSTAR MASH UP MIXTAPE” so they can see the picture... ‘cuz it’s like a deer in the headlights when they hear the stuff!”

“Muggs Mash-Up Radio” is a three hour Hip-Hop/Rock mix show. Muggs will create original Mash Ups for every show, so this music can only be heard one place in the world: on “Mugg’s Mash Up Radio.” Muggs will debut original never before heard Mash-Ups like; Metallica vs. Bone Crusher, Busta vs. Linkin Park, Rage Against the Machine vs. DMX, and 50 Cent vs. Devo, etc.

Muggs feels “Radio is lacking soul. Besides the mix shows, radio’s objective anymore isn’t to break new music and try new things. Big radio is about numbers and keeping the advertisers and stuff. I still think radio should try to break new acts and new styles of music. I think its part of their responsibility! But it seems like the business side of radio aint letting that happen and they could give a F#@%* about the art. I’m still trying to bring a different twist on the art form to radio, to bring some originality. Radio needs to take chances on trying to break things and get different personalities that are a little more exciting, not just the same cookie cutter cats that fit the criteria at that moment that need to be politically correct!”

“Artists sometimes don’t understand their responsibility. Either they just think they are going to make music and shake their ass, or some of them are young and still kids doing it for the ego. But when you get older and get to like, the Bono age or Mick Jagger age, you know how they go out of their way to go ahead and help spread their word. I think it takes a certain level of maturity and enlightenment to get to that point as a man, and these guys aren't getting it until their 35-40 and unfortunately, a lot of them are out the game by then...”

Muggs has also united with Matt Pinfield (KROQ/NY and MTV) to deliver to their radio fans the hottest interviews, live studio recordings, and exclusives from a “Who’s Who” in Hip-Hop and Rock.

Mash-Ups is a fantasy gathering where all sorts of artists who have been kept segregated by radio formats, racial and social divides now have an opportunity for their music to be appreciated by the masses. Muggs is going to be the leader in this change with his new radio show; “Muggs Mash-Up Radio”.
